Our Powder Coating Process: Step by Step

At Zamco, we run the largest powder coating ovens in Idaho, giving us the ability to handle projects that other shops cannot. From small precision components to oversized custom fabrications, every project goes through our proven process to ensure a durable and professional finish.

1. Preparation

We begin with a full inspection. Oils, contaminants, and sharp edges are removed, and any areas that must remain bare are carefully masked or plugged.

2. Media Blasting

We blast parts to bare metal, creating a consistent surface profile. This step is critical for proper bonding and maximum coating durability.

3. Washing and Pretreatment

Parts are washed and degreased to remove contaminants then rinsed to a neutral pH. When needed, we apply a conversion coating to improve adhesion and corrosion resistance.

4. Powder Application

Using advanced electrostatic spray equipment, we apply powder with precision. Our team ensures full, even coverage on edges, corners, and surfaces for a uniform finish.

5. Curing

Our oversized ovens set us apart. With the largest powder coating oven in Idaho, we can cure oversized parts quickly and evenly. Once cooled, every project is inspected for thickness, gloss, and finish quality.

6. Packaging and Delivery

Before any project leaves our shop, we take the time to thoroughly inspect every part to ensure it meets our high standards for finish quality and durability. Once approved, we carefully package each item using foam wrap, banding, and custom pallet solutions designed to keep parts secure in transit. This extra attention ensures that your products arrive in perfect condition, whether they’re headed across the Treasure Valley, throughout Idaho, or into Oregon.
